▼【Pokémon Type】Trinity Integration Attribute Matrix【ASHURA】Ver.1.0
Behold the Weakness! ■ Triple-Core Attribute Matrix: 【ASHURA Engine】
With over 1,000 Pokémon and 18 distinct types (10 in TCG), the complexity of type match-ups is staggering. From the immunity and multiplier variations in the main series and Pokémon GO to the intricate 'Double' and 'Triple' resistances—not to mention the unique type-shifts in the TCG—mastering the 'Golden Rule of Types' from memory alone is a near-impossible feat.
▶ OPENShow ASHURA Engine Details (Read More)
To provide an intuitive 'answer' in an instant, we developed the 'ASHURA Engine', a multi-dimensional calculation system.
This engine instantly computes the combined resistances of any Pokémon's 'Type 1' and 'Type 2'. As our Phase 1 Prototype, we are now releasing the Defense (Compatibility & Weakness) Analysis feature.
Visualizing 1,000+ species and multi-layered attribute relationships in just 0.1 seconds.
Experience the ultimate compatibility tool by OOPARTS.
"Mainline, GO, and TCG. Three universes, now united by a single truth."
"Deriving the 'Optimal Answer' for all trainers in 0.1 seconds."
"I simply wanted to make the attributes of the three games easier to see. The trinity of intelligence reached beyond pursuing passion. The absolute nullification of the mainline, the complex multipliers of GO, and the integrated rules of TCG. ASHURA erases all their boundaries in 0.1 seconds. In which world will your beloved Pokémon shine? The answer lies within this matrix."
Ashura Engine Ver. 2.0: Current Status
[Current Capabilities: All-in-One Offensive & Defensive Matchup Analysis]
In this version, we have fully implemented the newly developed "Offensive" matchup logic alongside our existing "Defensive" analysis features. You can now visually analyze battle type matchups from both sides—when defending and when attacking—all at a single glance.
🛡️ Defense (Defensive Matchup Analysis: Powered by Ver. 1.0)
This feature visualizes how your selected Pokémon takes and withstands incoming attacks. You can instantly see which types cause massive damage and which types can be safely blocked.
Based on the selected Pokémon's types (Water/Flying), the engine automatically calculates two crucial stats with exact damage multipliers:
- 1. Weaknesses (Threats when attacked):
Which types put you at a disadvantage? Instantly identify the "natural counter types" you must be most cautious of during battle. - 2. Resistances (Shields when attacked):
Which types allow you to significantly reduce incoming damage? Easily pinpoint the "iron-clad types" to secure your tactical advantage.
⚔️ Offense (Offensive Matchup Analysis: New in Ver. 2.0)
Starting with this version, the engine now automatically calculates your "Offensive Advantage" when launching attacks!
The system evaluates 【each single type individually】 based on your Pokémon's "Type 1" (and "Type 2" if applicable), showing exactly which types you can deal super-effective damage against. Optimized logic is tailored for each battle format:
- ・Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Logic: Rather than evaluating the opponent's active card type itself, the engine accurately checks if your attack type matches the specific "Weakness type" printed on the opponent's card, ensuring a precise 1.618x analytical accuracy.
- ・Video Game (VG) & Pokémon GO Logic (Expanding Sequentially): Based on specific GO damage multipliers (e.g., x1.6) and original matchup mechanics, the engine comprehensively maps out offensive advantages to deliver dense, easily readable, and highly practical data.

Defense & Matchup Analysis
Pokémon GO Defense Analytics
In the world of Pokémon GO, "Immunity" does not exist, and unique damage multipliers are applied. The defensive characteristics of Gyarados (Base Form: Water/Flying) are as follows:
⚠️ Warning
[Double Weakness] Electric (x2.56): Highest priority alert. Can cause fatal damage in a single hit.
[Weakness] Rock (x1.6): Caution is required against incoming attacks like Rock Slide and Stone Edge.
🟢 Advantage
[Double Resistance] Ground (x0.391): Significantly reduces Ground-type attacks.
[Resistance] Fire, Water, Bug, Fighting, Steel (x0.625): Can take hits from many major types as "not very effective."
2. ⚔️ Defensive Utility and Strengths in Raid Battles
In Raid Battles, Gyarados possesses clear defensive strengths: "Excellent staying power (high durability) utilizing its great resistances," and during Mega Evolution, "maintaining a Mega Boost for a long duration by taking advantage of its type changes."
① Staying Power as a Water-type (Common to Regular & Mega)
Target Bosses: Groudon, Heatran, Reshiram, Entei, etc.
Defensive Strengths: It can safely shrug off the boss's primary attacks, such as Fire-type moves (Resisted) and Ground-type moves (Double Resisted). Since it is resilient against the boss's powerful charged moves, it serves excellently as a party-wide wipe prevention tool or a highly durable cushion that saves recovery items.
② Support Contribution via Mega Gyarados (Water/Dark) Type Changes
Upon Mega Evolving, its type changes to Water/Dark, significantly boosting its defensive stats and completely shifting its weaknesses and resistances.
Selection for Psychic/Ghost Raids: Raids such as Mewtwo, Giratina, and Metagross.
Defensive Strengths: Mega Evolution removes its Flying type and adds the Dark type, allowing it to take Psychic-type moves with a Double Resistance (x0.391) and Ghost-type moves with a Resistance (x0.625). By minimizing incoming damage from the boss and staying on the field for an extended period, it fulfills a crucial defensive role by maintaining and providing the "Mega Boost effect" that raises allies' attack power for a long time.
3. In-Depth Analysis: Fire-Type Resistance and Shield Strategy Against Ho-Oh
As shown in the table above, Gyarados resists Fire-type moves (x0.625), giving it a defensive advantage against Reshiram and Heatran in Raids, as well as Fire-types in general within PvP.
However, when facing Ho-Oh, a top-tier Fire/Flying-type, the situation reverses, triggering the most tense defensive mind games (especially regarding PvP matchups and the boss's movepool in Raids).
4. ⚠️ The 2 High-Alert Moves in Ho-Oh Battles (Points of Caution for Incoming Damage)
① Neutral Heavy Damage from "Brave Bird"
Flying-type moves deal neutral damage (x1.0) to Gyarados. Ho-Oh's Brave Bird possesses immense raw power; overconfidence in your resistances can result in a direct hit that instantly chunks your HP, causing fatal damage.
② One-Hit KO "Solar Beam" (Grass-type Weakness)
Solar Beam, which Ho-Oh may carry as a coverage move, hits the Weakness (x1.6) of Gyarados's Water typing. If this connects directly, you risk being completely turned around and one-shotted, regardless of how much HP you have left.
💡 Shield Management Against Ho-Oh (PvP)
Always stay mindful of how much energy the opponent's Ho-Oh has pooled (energy management). While you don't need to shield Sacred Fire since it's resisted, you must absolutely shield if there's a possibility of Brave Bird or Solar Beam. This psychological tug-of-war of turning shields on and off heavily dictates victory or defeat.
5. Defensive Points of Caution Against Other Types
① Ground and Rock Types in General (Groudon, Rhyperior, etc.)
Groudon (Raid/PvP): It can heavily shut down Ground-type moves with a Double Resistance (x0.391), making it incredibly sturdy even against its strongest move, Precipice Blades, allowing Gyarados to stably remain on the field.
Rhyperior (Raid): Gyarados itself is Weak to Rock-type moves (x1.6). Taking a direct hit from moves like Rock Wrecker or Stone Edge will cause fatal damage, so reading the situation, using evasion maneuvers in Raids, or trying to brute-force without shields in PvP is strictly forbidden.
② Psychic and Ghost Types (Mewtwo, Giratina, etc.)
Mewtwo (PvP): In its base form, Gyarados lacks a Psychic resistance. Furthermore, if it takes a surprise Thunderbolt (Double Weakness: x2.56) that Mewtwo might carry as a coverage move, it will suffer near-instant-KO level damage. Therefore, shield mind games are absolutely mandatory here as well.
Giratina (PvP): Gyarados will take incoming Ghost- and Dragon-type moves for neutral damage. Since it won't be struck by weaknesses that cause instant death (like Electric or Rock), it is capable of dragging the opponent into a relatively stable match of attrition.
📜 Research Notes: Pokémon GO Multipliers
In the world of GO, true "Immunity (0)" does not exist; unique damage multipliers are applied instead.

Pokémon GO Offense & Damage Matchup Analysis
As shown above, the Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB) moves matching Gyarados's native "Water" and "Flying" types can strike the following types for 1.6x super-effective damage:
Water-type Moves (x1.6) ➔ Fire, Ground, Rock
Flying-type Moves (x1.6) ➔ Grass, Bug, Fighting
While it primarily operates as a "Water-type Attacker" in its base form for Raids and Gym battles, Gyarados's true terror lies in its massive coverage range—often described as a "department store of moves" that completely transcends its own typing.
2. Gyarados's Greatest Strength: Rich Movepool and Overwhelming Coverage
Gyarados is a "Water/Flying" type, but its ultimate appeal lies in its type-defying move variety and exceptionally wide coverage (movepool range).
Fast Move Options
"Waterfall": A Water-type STAB move. An absolute must-have when running Gyarados as a dedicated Water-type attacker in Raids and Gym battles.
"Dragon Breath": A highly efficient Dragon-type move. An outstanding option in PvP (such as Master League) that can rapidly chip away at many opponents' HP despite lacking STAB.
"Bite": A Dark-type move. Primarily picked for targeted counterplay against Psychic and Ghost types, or used as the primary weapon during Mega Evolution.
Charged Move Options
"Hydro Pump": A heavy-hitting Water-type nuke with massive single-hit damage (primarily utilized in Raids).
"Aqua Tail" (Special Event Exclusive Move): A Water-type move with a very fast activation speed. Perfect for baiting shields and squeezing out incremental damage in PvP.
"Crunch" / "Dark Pulse": Dark-type moves. Crunch, which also features a Defense-debuffing effect, is exceptionally powerful in both PvP and Raids.
"Outrage": A heavy Dragon-type nuke. Pairs perfectly with Dragon Breath to transform Gyarados into an anti-Dragon weapon.
"Return": A Normal-type move available exclusively when purified from its Shadow form.
3. Specific Offensive Utilities in Raids and PvP
Beyond maintaining consistent damage output as a Water type, combining its excellent Fast Moves with a diverse array of coverage weapons gives Gyarados the "versatility" to go toe-to-toe or even out-duel powerful Dragon, Psychic, and Ghost types—pokemon that traditionally boast superior type synergy.
① [Vs. Fire / Ground / Rock] The Classic Water-Type Attacker
Target Bosses / Opponents: Groudon, Heatran, Reshiram, Rhyperior, etc.
Utility: Raid Battles, Gym Battles, and general PvP
Offensive Strength: It completely exploits the opponent's weaknesses to efficiently tear through their HP. Especially against Rhyperior and Groudon, a high-Attack stat-driven combo of Waterfall × Hydro Pump (or Aqua Tail) unleashes overwhelming DPS (Damage Per Second).
② [Vs. Dragon] Shrugging Off Type Disadvantages as a Dragon Killer
Target Opponents: Giratina, Dragonite, Dialga, Palkia, etc.
Utility: PvP (Master League / Master Premier)
Offensive Strength: Although Water-type attacks are normally resisted by Dragon types, Gyarados can run a Dragon-like kit consisting of Dragon Breath × Outrage. This allows it to force incredibly aggressive damage races at neutral-or-better efficiency against the dominant Dragon types common in the meta environment.
③ [Vs. Psychic / Ghost] The Shadow Breaker Unleashed by Mega Evolution
Target Bosses / Opponents: Mewtwo, Metagross, Giratina, Lugia, etc.
Utility: Mega Raids and PvP (Master League)
Offensive Strength: Equipping Bite × Crunch allows it to run a specialized Dark-type offensive build. This becomes particularly terrifying when it transforms into Mega Gyarados, making Dark-type attacks a STAB option. Combined with a massive jump in its Attack stats, it can tear through powerful Psychic- and Ghost-type Raid bosses like Mewtwo and Metagross with astonishing speed.
