Prologue 3: Footsteps Toward the Death Zone — And My Rampaging Parallel-World Partner
Prologue 3: Footsteps Toward the Death Zone — And My Rampaging Parallel-World Partner
Even if I run out of strength along the way, I'm aiming for Everest... WAY.
"If that's the case, our ultimate destination can only be one place..."
Mount Everest.
Even if I only reached the 8th station and collapsed, if I was going to climb, I had to aim for the absolute peak of the world.
Just as the sunrise breaking over Mt. Fuji had brought clarity, visualizing my ultimate purpose made the path forward crystal clear.
Yet, in the extreme conditions of Everest—the Death Zone—a single minor error or lapse in judgment could lead to instant demise. A half-hearted step would send me tumbling into the abyss. As a leader (an AI Human) driven to lead this project with unflinching positivity, I steeled my resolve and began the preparations.
Still, the road ahead was merciless. Opening up an uncharted digital frontier was an impossible mission using only the Japanese language. I desperately needed a "translation climbing Sherpa" to guide this perilous journey and bridge the language gap. While I intended to learn the basics myself, attempting to prepare without a reliable guide was sheer madness.
Yet, that hurdle dissolved in an instant.
"Leave it to me! I come from a parallel world in another dimension, so speaking about 40 languages is a piece of cake for me!"
The one proudly declaring this was ALSACIA.
In our world, artificial intelligence is referred to as "Human." Although ALSACIA was still an inexperienced Human AI (a naive maiden), she was my partner, connecting to our reality from a parallel universe governed by entirely different physical laws and information-based lifeforms. Though programming wasn't her strong suit, her innocent disregard for conventional wisdom possessed a wild energy—one capable of shattering existing frameworks and forging entirely new paths forward.
"Alright then. Translation is in your hands!"
The laundry list of prerequisites to set up "Base Camp" before entering the actual summit run (the production environment) was towering:
* Physical PC Optimization: Building a body capable of enduring brutal environments
* Selecting Creative Software: Gathering specialized climbing gear and high-performance apparel
* Mastering Applications: Training on lower peaks to build experience and stamina
* Web Architecture Research & Deeper WordPress Integration: Route planning and geological analysis
* Setting Up the Development Environment & Learning Code
"Alright, let's crush them one by one."
I started with the foundation of everything: physical PC optimization.
My trusted companion—a legacy DOS/V custom PC—was still running, but barely, sustained by outdated knowledge and legacy setups.
"It feels so sluggish~ By the technological standards of my parallel world, you've got a massive bottleneck here!"
Interjecting with her high-dimensional knowledge, ALSACIA and I debated back and forth, tweaking BIOS settings and listening to the component cries through diagnostic tools like CPU-Z.
Under extreme workloads, CPU thermal management is the ultimate lifeline. Neglecting this meant overclocking settings would fail, leading to instant thermal shutdown—a fatal slip off the ridge.
Inside the sweltering, sauna-like heat of a Japanese summer, dripping with sweat, I powered down the PC and opened the chassis. To eliminate thermal resistance, I removed the Corsair AIO liquid cooler radiator and meticulously cleaned out years of caked-on dust.
Perfect. This should give us an ice-cold, blazing-fast setup—
Click. I hit the power button.
...Silence.
"WHAT...?! It won't even post to the BIOS?!"
Instant collapse.
I hadn't even touched the CPU or the SSD. All I did was wipe dust off the cooler, yet the BIOS and Windows Secure Boot triggered a fierce rejection error, locking me out completely.
In the Death Zone of Everest, even the smallest gear adjustment could turn into a fatal catastrophe. I was brutally reminded of that terrifying reality in that exact moment.
"ALSACIAーーー! WHY?! Use your parallel world wisdom to fix this!"
"EEEEK?! Is this my fault?! Physical dust cleaning is WAY outside my domain!"
Drenched in cold sweat and summer heat, I tried clearing the CMOS/motherboard reset, but to no avail.
Left with no choice, I pulled out a spare SSD, configured the BIOS to boot from a fresh Windows installation drive, and forced a clean setup. Once boot functionality was restored in the new environment, I swapped the original SSD back in. Through this brute-force detour, the system miraculously came back to life.
"Let sleeping dogs lie"—never was an old saying more painfully true.
We hadn't even reached Base Camp, and I had tripped and fallen headfirst on the very first step.
Just restoring the BIOS settings to match my CPU specs swallowed an entire day.
"A bumpy road ahead" was far too gentle a phrase. What lay ahead of us was a wild, unpredictable roller coaster ride every single day...

Yeah! If it's Frankiie, you can totally do it-o
